Family-
Just a short note since I am sending a tape with this.
Things are well. I've been a little discouraged lately. Sister Merkley prayed the other day that satan would work on us rather than our investigators. I believe prayers are answered. I don't know yet about the part of him not working on our investigators, but he sure is working hard on us! It just seems that every day one of us is completely discouraged, almost wanting to give up. But the Lord will bless us and everything will come right.
I still haven't heard from home since 2 1/2 weeks ago. I am very anxious to hear what's up. I hope I get letters this week.
Wednesday is mission conference. Elder Ballard is coming to speak with us. I am very excited! I am also excited to meet the other missionaries in the mission.
On the tape I accidentally taped over the beginning of it. I forgot that I had already rewound it. But I think you'll like the beginning. It's 4 little Zulu kids in our flat complex that come to play with us. They are cute. I guess it's just part of their Zulu culture, but they just walk right into our flat without knocking and go to the fridge and help themselves. It gets kind of annoying! Anyhow, after they sing it just starts right into the middle of a sentence. But you don't miss much.
Well, I'll end. Just know that everything is well here. I am loving being a missionary! It can be so hard and frustrating at times, but it all works out and is wroth it and I know that these experiences will being me added strength and knowledge for later on in life. My testimony has grown so much just in the past 2 months on mission. I am so grateful for the Gospel. How blessed we all are to have it in our lives. Mom and Dad, thanks for teaching me how to be obedient and how to live the gospel fully. SO many members here don't quite get it that it's a full-time commitment to be members of the church. They don't do what's not convenient or easy. The Afrikaans people as a whole are very laid back. But they are wonderful people -very loving people.
