Toti (02/17/97)

Dear Family-

This has been a good week.  We've had a lot of success.  We've found some really cool families that we are teaching.  One of which has already committed to baptism.  We plan to have some really good baptisms here in the next couple of months. The branch is growing like crazy.  The  building we meet in is too small for everyone.  It's very exciting!

Mom, there's a lady named Shirley Naidoo who is going to write to you.  She's trying to find out about immigration stuff. I tried to explain to her that we (Americans) don't know much about immigration because we've never had to do it, but she was determined to write you and ask.  So anyhow, you'll be receiving a letter from her.  She's a really cool lady.  She's been investigating for 5 months but is not really progressing.  I don't think she fully understands that this is the only true church (even though we've explained and explained it).

Well, you may have me back sooner than you thought.  I'm not sure because no one seems to know exactly what's going on.  Apparently Pres. was wrong when he said the 24th of June because transfers are at the beginning of the month.  So now it looks like I'll be home June 8th.  That's not for sure yet.  I'll find out this afternoon and then let you know for sure.  That's sooner that I expected and 19 days shorter than 18 months, but if I wait and go on the 7th of July I'll have to leave from a brand new mission president who comes in on the 1st of July.  So, I'd rather leave from President Stevenson.  But that only gives me 3 1/2 months left on mission.  It scares me a bit.

I love being companions with Sister Sargeant.  She is by far the best companion I've had on mission.  We get along a lot like Diane and I get along.  So, it is making the work so great.  I hope that she will be my companion for the rest of my mission.

So, what's up with Mike's mission plans?  Are his papers in yet?  I think you should phone me and tell me where he goes! (or actually fax the mission office, that wouldn't be against the rules).  I'm anxious to hear where he is going.

Well, I don't have much more to say.  Things are going well.  I hope all is well with you.  I haven't heard from home in weeks.  I hope you're all still alive.

I love you tons!  Take care!

Love,

Michelle

P.S. Ok, I got a letter yesterday and then  phoned last night, so I have heard from home. :)

I talked to the office again about my release date.  I think the secretary is a little ditzy, so I'm not sure this is correct.  But this time she told me that it would be the 27th of June.  I guess plan on that.  Let me know where I should plan on flying to.  Since it's the end of June you could probably just write it in a letter instead of faxing it.  We'll have enough time.  Hopefully this date will stick! :)

Love you!

Michelle :)
