Toti (no date)

(I found a letter that was out of order at the end of my book.  I will add it here, so there will be 2 letters in this one post)
Toti (11/21/96)

Zenger Fam-

Cool Pen hey!? My companion has the crayola changeables.  They are a lot of fun to play with! :) (I had decorated the top of the page)

So, how are things on the homefront? Sounds pretty cushy with a condo for conference weekend and one for Thanksgiving!  What a bunch of spoiled people! :)  I'm glad that you are all able to get away, that would be nice, I'm just jealous! :)

Things are going well here.  We actually had a really tough week this last week.  It was just tremendously hard, but then yesterday we had a really good day, so it kind of made up for it all.

We had a really cool experience yesterday.  Right after church the Branch President called me over and told me that there was aman who came in and asked to see the missionaries.  I went and met him. His name is Steve and his is dating a girl from one of the other wards.  he had met with the missioinaries in that ward and had 2 discussions and he wants to be baptizedd as soon as possible, and so he came to find us so that we could resume teaching him.  We taught him the 3rd discussion & it was power!  It was like teaching someone who has been a member all of his life!  I was amazed at his knowledge of the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants & the Bible.  I seriously think he knows more about the scriptures than I do!  Steve's parents are very anti.  They don't know that he is being baptized, actually they don't even know that he is taking the missionary discussions. They may be extremely upset when they find out.  But he says that it won't persuade him at all.  He's just really cool!  I'm excited for him.  He's going to be an awesome member.

They are starting to teach the missionaries her Zulu.  They are going to start teaching it in the MTC soon, but in the meanwhile they are going to start a study program here with tutors etc.  And they are doing a trial run with one district.  Luckily enough, it's my district, so in the next couple of weeks I'll start learning Zulu (in a formal setting). I've been trying to learn on my own and that is a very slow process, so this will help greatly!  I am really excited to learn.  I probably won't be able to be fluent, but I will at least be able to teach the gospel in Zulu. I'm stoked! :)

We visited some members here last night, the Msane's.  They are so awesome!  Anyhow, for my birthday they are going to have a big braii (BBQ) and we'll invite a bunch of investigators & they'll invite some of their friends.  We'll bake the cake you sent and play some American games.  I think it will be really nice.  I'm excited.

Well, I've become a Sunday School teacher. I'm teaching the Gospel Principles class.  Yesterday was my first time. It was nice, this is the first time I've ever taught a Sunday School class.  It was a good experience.  I enjoyed it.

Will you tell Ryan Anderson that even though he's home from mission and dating like a mad man, he still owes me a letter! :)

Well, I hope that everything is going well with everyone there.  Things are great on this side!  Take care and know that I love you all.  The church is true!

I love you all!

Family-

Hello!  Howzit? How has this week been?  I'm sorry, I didn't get last weeks letter in the post this week.  I'll still send it though.

Elder Holland came and spoke to us this past weekend, actually it was just yesterday.  It was really nice.  He is an incredible man.  The main point to his talk to us as missionaries was about Helaman Chapter 6, when the Lamanites who became righteous went and "hunted" the more wicked part of the Gadianton Robbers and taught them the Gospel and because of this they were taken from off the face of the land.  He told us that we need to so the same, to have the courage to teach with power and authority to even the toughest investigators.  It was very inspirational. He also emphasized how our missions are the most pivotal times in our lives.  That it is also only 18 or 24 months, so we have to make the best of the time that we have here.

Transfers were phoned out on Saturday.  Sister Wall is going to Durban North.  I am training.  My new companion will be Sister Bennion. I don't know anything about her .  No one seems to know anything about her.  I'm ok with training. I'm a little worried about it just because I don't know Amanzimtoti all that well.  I'm just affraid  of getting lost.  I'll be fine though.  I think it will be a good experience.  I think Sister Bennion will have a good start to her mission as far as seeing baptisms because we should have baptisms every week this month.  That will be nice.

One of the Elders in my district, actually my district leader who will be Zone Leader after transfers, about freaked out when I told him that Erik has a mastercraft.  He said that he and his best friend used to dream of skiing behing a Mastercraft. He's so funny!  I've never seen someone get so excited about a boat before.  He says he wasnt to become Erik's best friend so that he can go skiing with him.

Well, this is a short letter, but I don't know what else to write about.  I love you all very much!  Please take care!

Love,
Michelle :)
