Toti (no date)

Family-

Hello!  Thanks for the birthday package!  I got it this week.  It came pretty quickly, the post hasn't gotten too bad yet.  It will get pretty bad the closer it gets to Christmas.

I about died when I saw the photos!  Brittany has changed so much!  She's not a baby anymore, but a little girl.  I was shocked!  Am I being a proud aunt or does she look a lot like me when I was her age?  And then Mike, I was looking through the photos wondering who the "babe" was that was at my house playing with my nieces and nephew. It took me so long to figure out that it was my "little" brother!  It was great to see the photos.  It's nice to see everyone.  It's strange because when you're away you almost expect everything to stay the same and not change.  It's crazy when you see how much they actually do change.

Things are great here in Toti.  I love this area.  We are really finding a lot of success here.  It almost seems to good to be true.  The change of an area and of companions was really what I needed.  I was with 2 extremely introverted people (Sister Allen and Sister Jensen) and I began being introverted myself.  So the change was good, even though I do really miss both of them.  They phone me every couple of days, so that makes it nice.

Like I said, the work here is going really well.  We plan on having at least 5 baptisms in November.  That will be great!

Elder Holland is coming in 2 weeks time to meet with all of us missionaries and also with the members.  It should be really nice.  How was General Conference?  Anything really exciting happen?  I really miss being able to watch or even listen to General Conference.  It will be another month or so before we will get the Ensign. Oh well, I only have to miss one more conference.

Believe it or not, I'm losing weight!  Sister Wall and I get up every morning and exercise.  It's really nice.  We walk right along the beach.  There's a sidewalk that runs along the beach right outside of our flat.  It makes it really nice.  I'll be so skinny by the time I get home! :)

It always seems like I think of so much during the week that I need to write home about, but then when I start to write, I forget everything.

I guess I could tell you a little about some of our investigators.  Ruth and Manuel are getting baptized January 19th.  Ruth wants to wait until her birthday.  They are so cool!  They've been investigating for a while, actually, they were investigating and then the Elders basically lost track of them.  Then Sister Wall and Sister Bergman came across an old investigator record and they decided to go back on it.  They began to reteach them.  They come to church every Sunday and they are just basically members, they just want to make sure that they know everything possible to know about the church. Hopefully they will decide to be baptized sooner.  They would benefit so much from having the Gift of the Holy Ghost in their lives.  They are neat people!

There are many other really cool people that we are working with, but I'll write more about those in another letter.

I hope all is well there.  I  hope you are all happy!  Update me on everyone.  I love to hear what's going on in everyone's lives.

Know that I am doing great.  I am happier than ever!  I've been feeling an incredible closeness to my Heavenly Father.  I feel like He actually hears my prayers.  I guess I've always felt like He hears my prayers, but it's different.  I guess it's that my prayers are more sincere.  I feel like an actual missionary.  Before mission I always tried to imagine how it would feel to be a missionary.  I never felt the way I imagined, until just recently.  It's a wonderful feeling.

I'm grateful for the Gospel. I'm even more grateful for the opportunity that I have to share it with others.  It's amazing to be able to watch people change and gain an understanding of the Plan of Salvation and their specific role in that plan.  I've watched the joy in a woman's eyes, who lost her daughter by murder 3 months ago, as she learned that families can be together forever and that after she is baptized she can eventually go to the temple and do the work for her self and her daughter.  That was a neat feeling.

I love you all so very much!  Take care!

Love,
Michelle :)
